This book is a bank account book issued by The State Savings Bank of Victoria, guaranteed by the Government of Victoria for The School Bank Department. it belonged to Marilyn Morgan who attended State School No. 2744 at Orbost from 1956 -1958.The State Bank of Victoria was a bank that existed from 1842 until 1990 when it was taken over by the Commonwealth Bank. Transported to Victoria as deck cargo aboard s.s. Port Darwin. This vessel was ordered by Government of Victoria and was only used in training exercises in Port Philip and had become outmoded by the time the Royal Australian Navy was formed in 1911.Buried by sand in the grounds of the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum. There is no known record of how the "Lonsdale" ended abandoned on the beach at Queenscliff. Legatee Frank Doolan was a long serving member of Legacy and given the honour of planting the tree.
