The Civilian Service Medal 1939 - 1945 was established in 1994 by the Australian Government. It recognizes the service of civilians who served in Australia during World War 11, in organisations that were subject to military-like arrangements and conditions of service, or arduous circumstances, in support of the war effort. The original medal is missing in the presentation box. The recipient is William George Bennett of the Alice Berry Nursing Home, Kings Rd, Emerald.VEMU1664.1 Civilian Service Medal 1939 - 1945 (minature) with attached ribbon. The ribbon consists of three vertical bands of equal width of green, ochre and green, separated by two narrow white stripes. Termial - battery, World War Two
This battery treminal was removed from one of the Japanese Midget Submarines sunk in Sydney Harbour during the night attack on Sunday 31st May 1942 and sold publicly as a souvenir to raise money for the RAN relief funds for sailors. Metal plate - two round black metal lugs on top of a flat grey lead plate with four Japanese characters stamped on the base off the top of a battery from a Midget Submarine, with a cardboard souvenir card.Metal Plate - four Japanese characters. Cardboard tag - "A Guaranteed Souvenir / from the / Japanese Midget Submarine / Sunk in Sydney Harbour,/ Sunday May 31st, 1942" / sign by "Rear-Admiral in Charge, Sydney /July 30, 1942 Proceeds to RAN Relief Fund & King George's Fund for Sailors". Letter, 2/5 Australian Infantry Battalion Assoc, 2000
Letter lists the service history of Sgt A R WILLS VX 5275 2/5 Infantry Battalion. He enlisted in 1939 embarked on HMT 'Ettrick" on 14/4/1940 after basic training at Puckapunyal. Disembarked in Egypt on 18/5/1940 and saw action at Bardia, Greece and Syria. Spent time in Lebanon and Ceylon before returning to Australia on 4/8/1942. On 13/10/42 disembarked at Milne Bay New Guinea and took part in the battle for Wau securing the airstrip and surrounding area after heavy fighting. Between 6-9 Feb 2/5 Bn C and D companies supported by A company spearheaded the attack engaged and defeated the enemy thus ending the battle of Wau Sgt WILLS was one of 28 men killed in action in the Crystal Creek area on 7/2/1943 and is buried at Lae War Cemetery.Letter consisting of letterhead above black typing on white paperAt top 2/5 Australian Infantry Battalion Association 1939-1945 Dated 27 April 2000 At bottom "Sans regret"a r wills, 2/5th aust. inf. bn, lae, new guinea, battle for wau, kia, crystal creek -

Peaked uniform cap worn by members of the Luftwaffe Flak Group Pattern is NCO pattern dated 1939. Note refers to Waffenfabre which translates to Weapons Factory.Predominately black peaked hat. Top portion black felt with red edging and emblem of silver eagle carrying a Swaztika on front. Middle portion is black cotton material band, 5 cm wide with emblem of laurel wreath in silver and wings coming out each side. A blue, silver and red button in middle. Peak is black leather on outside and cream plastic on inside. Black buckled chin strap on bottom broken from stud on right side. Inside lined with orange material with brown leather lining on rim.
