Georgies Bus was a converted bus that was used as a mobile information, counselling and referral service for 12 to 25-year olds. This pair of cuff links was produced in 1992 as a memento/souvenir to commemorate the centenary of the formation of the Shire of Orbost - 1892-1992. Orbost was at first included in the Bairnsdale Shire from 1882 and was later part of the Tambo Shire. Because of travelling distances the Croajingalong Shire was created in 1892 (name changed to Orbost Shire 17.2.1893 with James Cameron as the first Shire President. This is a photograph of Mr & Mrs Peter Nixon about to board Kaye Lynn's covered jinker which is pulled by a horse to travel to open the Orbost Historical Society's Museum in Nicholson Street, Orbost. The original location of the Museum 1967 was in the building which is now (2022) used by the Cricket Club & Senior Citizens. The Library was also located there. Pages from a scrapbook belonging to Heather Jenkins (nee Sargeant) who lived as a child in the Police Residence at 728 Main Road, Eltham in the 1920s. This photo: Between April 1923 and August 1926, electric trains from Melbourne terminated at Eltham. A connecting steam train ran between Eltham and Hurstbridge. Heather Sargeant was the daughter of Constable W.C. Four spectacle cases used in the Orbost district, one being owned by S McKeown and supplied by R C Mansell who was a consulting optometrist in Orbost.Four spectacle cases catalogued 817.1 to 817.4. They are of a similar shape but have different colourings. 817.2 has the words S McKeown, Orbost written inside indicating the owner and R C Mansell L O Sc Optometrist, Orbost on the outside indicating the supplier. 817.4 has the word Polaroid on the outside.spectacle-case mansell-optometrist

Dross Drossou sold his cordial manufacturing business to Phillips and Stone, a Bairnsdale company, in 1948. Phillips & Stone continued to manufacture soft drinks at Orbost until the early 1970s when the factory became a distribution centre. It closed as a distribution centre in 1978 and later served as the headquarters of the Orbost State Emergency Service. The site of the Cordial Factory now forms part of the carpark at the rear of the Orbost Newsagency. This book, written by Inspector Robert Haldane, details the history of the Police Force in Victoria up to the late 20th century. The history of the Police Force is mirrored in the history of the police presence in Warrnambool since the early days of settlement. One important ex-Warrnambool policemen featured in the book is Thomas O’Callaghan, an Inspector of Police in Warrnambool in the 1880s and the Chief Commissioner of Police from 1902 to 1913.This item is of interest firstly as a book giving comprehensive details on the history of the Victorian Police Force and secondly as book containing information on police members who were connected with the history of Warrnambool. .1 This is a hard cover book of 372 pages with a blue cover and silver printing on the spine. The dust cover has a white and blue background with a photograph of a 19th century policeman, six colour photographs and one black and white photograph. The printing on the dust cover is in white, blue and black. The book contains six chapters and many sketches, illustrations, photographs and graphs. .2 This is a 1986 newspaper cutting from the Warrnambool Standard featuring an article on the book, The People’s Force.
