Produced by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Sets out the constitution and objects of Victorian State Power system, notes Act of Parliament of 1918, Yallourn, Newport B, Richmond, Ballarat and Geelong Power stations, Sugarloaf - Rubicon Hydro electric stations. This item is a souvenir of the Bi- Centenary of Australia (1988) It features the new Parliament House in Canberra which was opened in May 1988 and cost more than one billion dollars to build and contains four thousand seven hundred rooms. This item came from the estate of a well known Warrnambool lawyer and is retained as a high quality souvenir of the Bi-Centenary of AustraliaCircular ceramic plate. White concave surface with blue drawing of Parliament House, Australian Coat of Arms, flowers including banksia, Sturt Desert Pea, eucalypt and seven pointed stars. Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. Handmade and imported furniture for doll's house made by Yvonne Fitzmaurice for the daughter, Susan, on her birthday.Hand-made child's doll's house. Built by Mrs Yvonne Fitzmaurice and finished in 1979. This house was built as a 1:12 scale and is a model of a Californian house called Peppercorn farm. House was built by Yvonne and her family and took a period of three years. A lot of the furniture is handmade and the rest is collected from various shops. This building was part of a range of shops known as Victoria House, built by Vere Quaile, blacksmith, in 1857. It consisted of a shop, a blacksmith's forge and wheelwright, and was located to the east of the blacksmith's forge in Main Street. Between 1874 and 1892 Francis Timmons operated a clothier and drapers business in this building.Small sepia unframed photograph on card with gold border framing photograph. The name of the business can be clearly seen above the awning. Less clear is the name "Victoria House', also above the awning. Battista Borsa was from Bellinzona in Ticino, Switzerland. He named his house on the corner of Main road and Seventh St in Hepburn Springs "Bellinzona". His daughters ran the house as a guest house in 1900. This house was burnt down in the 1906 Bushfire. it was rebuilt in Edwardian tradition, and was again burnt down and rebuilt on a much larger footprint. Sixteen page book, A4 portrait format, saddle stapled, titled "Light Rail Transit System - Inner Area North-South Link", published by the Metropolitan Transit Authority detailing the conversion of the former heavy electric suburban railway lines to St Kilda and Port Melbourne to electric trams or Light Rail. Has foreword by Tom Roper, Minister for Transport, Describes the proposed system, vehicles, development of articulated vehicles (2001, 2002), interchange with rail services, travel times and a map showing the proposed route, including a possible extension along Mitford St. and Broadway to Glenhuntly Road. Has a number of artists impressions of the vehicles at Station Pier and South Melbourne station. Document, Origin and Record of Blamey House December 1939 - January 1947, 1987
Copies of correspondence with Mr K Crouch asking for the history of Blamey House. Plus a photocopy of the history pages from the Blamey House roll that is kept in glass display cabinets at Legacy House. Blamey House was one of the residences used by Legacy as a home for Junior Legatees. The first few pages of the book (item 02298) explains the history and significance of the name Blamey House - which was photocopied and sent to Mr Crouch. Blamey House was originally the name of a hostel set up in World War 2 for servicemen that needed short term accommodation and food. It was originally situated in Melbourne CBD on the corner of King and Collins Streets in the Robbs Building (since demolished). When the hostel was no longer required after the war, the trustees of Blamey House donated money - almost 20,000 pounds, to Legacy for a children and toddlers' home which was established in Balcombe Road Beaumaris. The condition of donation was that the name Blamey House be used and when the Balcombe Road property was sold in 1956 the name was transferred to Holmbush, another Legacy residence. Blamey House was one of the residences used by Legacy as a home for Junior Legatees. The first few pages of this book explains the history and significance of the name Blamey House. Then it is like an honour roll and has pages to be inscribed with the name of each Junior Legatee that lives in the home plus their fathers name and service. There is a list of approximately 72 children in the book that lived in a Legacy home called Blamey House at some stage. The name Blamey House was transferred to three different homes run by Legacy until 1980. Blamey House was originally the name of a hostel set up in World War 2 for servicemen that needed short term accommodation and food.
