The Sunbury Memorial Hall was originally the Mechanic's Institute which was built on the present site in 1885. The hall was remodelled in 1922 and renamed the Sunbury Memorial Hall. The building was used until the 1960s as the meeting place by the Shire of Bulla Council. Over the years it has continued to be used for community activities.A coloured photograph of the front view of the Sunbury Memorial Hall with a view of the portico with a front window on either side. The portico has a rounded iron roof and the two front windows are arched. The rendered front of the hall has been painted cream with grey and maroon trim. There are trees growing on either side of the hall and a car is parked on the RHS of the photograph. The building was the HQ of the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch. This version was a prototype of a 2 part set of the 3 Bendigo RSL’s HQ’s Cat No’s 8231, 8232 & 8233. This painting was done prior to the building being demolished post 2005. Annual wildflower shows took over the Hall's Gap Hall during spring and, in the 1930's, transformed it into a veritable wonderland. So popular were these displays that they have continued through until present times, the format has altered but the display of flowers remains the same. Ladies' Committees were formed to sell art and crafts during shows, and much of the revenue from these events went towards a future new building. The ticket shows that the admission price in 1933 was 1/- (one shilling). A comparison with Record 387 shows that the price had not risen from that rate in 1938. The Hon. Sec at this time was H.
