The image, without a blackened out background was reproduced on page 21 in 'Practical Anaesthesia'. Practical Anaesthesia was the first text book on anaesthesia produced in Australia. Geoffrey Kaye was one of the contributors to this book, which included a foreword by F.H. McMechan, Secretary General, International Anesthesia Research Society. Blood pressure measuring enabled medicine to develop a greater understanding of shock and begin to develop more appropriate measures for resuscitation.
