Hand spun, hand dyed, hand woven and hand sewn suit which won best garment in the 1987 Geelong show. Size 12 in a design by Chanel. It was spun with variegated natural greys on a Sheridan horizontal spinning wheel. It was then dyed pink using natural dyes. The jacket had commercially brought warp and hand spun weft in twill on a 24” loom. All spinning, dyeing and weaving was by Jean Inglis of Geelong. The suit was sewn by Caroline Mogic of Geelong, with iron on interfacing, commercially brought trim. It was worn only once in the parade at the Geelong show. The pink suit jacket has four pockets with gold buttons on front, size 12. The jacket has a checker-plate pattern in which the predominate pink is always present and is accompanied in areas which have grey or white showing through the pink. This checker plate pattern continues down the sleeves of the jacket. The edge of the jacket has a lighter pink trim. A pink skirt accompanies the suit jacket. In 1973 when Brian Schultz was working as a dye chemist at Yarra Falls (a Textile Factory making fabrics for school uniforms, suits etc.) in Abbotsford, he was invited by his friend to be his best man. He chose the colour green, dyed the fabric himself, and took the fabric to a tailor in Smith Street, Collingwood to have the suits made up for the December wedding. The green shirt which Brian wore with the green suit at the wedding in 1973 came in handy when he wore it 37 years later at his son's 30th birthday Halloween dress up party, when he dressed up as The Hulk. He cut up the sleeves of the shirt and painted himself green. Diary was owned by Evelyn White and was found in the estate of Neil Russell. It was donated to Museum Victoria in 2006 by Neil's son, Barry. MV passed on the diary to Southern Sherbrooke Historical Society who kept it after ascertaining that Healesville Historical Society didn't want it.A leatherbound diary with closing flap and press stud closure, and an expanding pocket at the front. There is a pencil holder. The first 254 pages have been torn out. Pages 255 to 318 have printed information of benefit to GPs. The remaining pages, 1-150, are a diary plus engagements list. Clothing. This unusual jacket has a fitted ''waistcoat'' appearance, fastened by eleven 1.5 cm diameter buttons, and hand stitched button holes. A separate, shaped front then overlaps the front. This has one tiny 7.5 cm long bound breast pocket, and an 8.5 cm long bound pocket at the lower section of each front. Front panels are peaked at the lower edge and have turned back lapels at the centre front - 4 cm wide. These are held by a 1.5 cm button at the top. and taper to the top of the peaked lower edge of the fronts. The high neckline is finished with a 4 cm deep stand-up collar. Long sleeves are tapered at the wrist, and have a 4 cm long opening at the sleeve edge, trimmed with 2 buttons on each sleeve. Stand-up collar, front edges and sleeve edges are lined with brown polished cotton. Internal seams and hem are bound in brown cotton fabric. Back of jacket is shaped by six panels of fabric, nipped in at the waist with two pleats and a button trimmed tab, at the lower centre seam, giving beautiful shaping. Multiload is an IUD, an intrauterine device used for contraception. The plastic used in this IUD is a mixture of high density polyethylene, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer and barium sulphate in a weight ratio 44/36/20. (MIMS, October 2013)This is one of a collection of items received from the practice of Dr Lachlan Hardy-Wilson, FRCOG, Launceston, Tasmania.Two flat boxes containing Multiload CU250 intrauterine devices. Front of each box carries an image of a hand holding an IUD inserter, with the Multiload IUD at the top of the inserter, above a blue background on which an image of a vagina has been superimposed. Text printed on the front of the box reads 'MULTILOAD/CU250/intra-uterine/device/Attention:/the enclosed instructions should be followed carefully before insertion of the MULTILOAD-cu250'. Manufacturer's information is printed on the bottom section of the front of the box. Back of each box is printed with distributor information. One box is sealed, and one box is unsealed. Unsealed box contains one IUD, sealed inside a sterile plastic pocket. Back of sterile pocket is printed with an expiration date of 06-12-1984. The IUD is in the form of a small plastic rod, or stem, with two small flexible side-arms. Each side arm has five small protrusions. A copper wire is wound around the stem. A nylon thread with two ends is attached to the bottom end of the stem. Back of sealed box carries a sticker which reads 'Date of manufacture: /12-08-1984'.intrauterine device

The Display Board of Konts was handmade in Kings Lynn, Devon, England, by Tom Long DSM, who is a member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers. This display board shows the knots and joins used in ropework performed by a sailmaker and other skilled ropeworkers. It demonstrates the uses of some of the knots, such as for knobs and handles, suspending lengths of wood, reinforcing spliced rope and even for decorative work. The sailmakers travelling as part of the ship’s crew stored their tool kit in a canvas ditty bag. It contained needles, awls, a sailmaker’s leather palmed glove with a heavily reinforced palm - a shuttle to mend and make nets, fids, knives, mallets, brushes, rulers, and rope gauges. Sailmakers used their ropework and knot-making skills for various purposes and chose the type of rope fibre for its particular properties. For example, Italian hemp rope was preferred for the light line used in shore-to-ship rescues because it was lightweight, not easily knotted, and absorbed less water. A supply of various types of rope was a commodity on board a ship and on land in the new colonies. It was flexible, easily stored, and could be worked to create an endless variety of objects on its own or with other materials like wood. An example is a simple rope ladder. Lengths could be combined to make various thicknesses and pieces could be skilfully joined together by splicing. The importance of knots in seafaring cannot be overestimated. When ships relied on only the wind for power and speed, there were a huge number of various ropes in use, particularly with regard to the sails and rigging. Seafarers would be judged on their ability to tie knots speedily and correctly. A mounted display of authentic seaman's knots is on a board covered in blue fabric. Various rope grades and fibres were used to work numerous knots and splices. Some of the uses are familiar, such as the toggle, the pineapple knot, and the Turk’s head. Rollin White was an American gunsmith who invented a single shot bored-through revolver cylinder that allowed paper cartridges to be loaded from the rear of a revolver's cylinder. Wen his patent expired the Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company started working on its own metallic cartridge revolvers. Thus, after having introduced its first rear-loading pistols in 1871 the (Colt House/Cloverleaf revolver) and the 1872 (Colt Open Top revolver), in 1873 Colt launched the Colt Peacemaker along with a new line of pocket revolvers, sorted in five different calibers (.22, .30, .32, .38, .41 cal). Since it was an entirely new line of revolvers this model was called the Colt New Line. Circa 1884-1886 (the .32 cal was only made during 1873-1884). Submerged by the company's competitors' cheaper imitations and refusing to introduce a lower quality among its own firearms to match its competitors, the Colt company dropped the line and ceased production.The Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt. It demonstrates the evolution of firearm production and development of firearms as manufacturers moved away from percussion muzzle-loading firearms to those that would accept cartridges. Mt Beauty Higher Elementary School commenced in 1953 as the need for a secondary school grew with the increase in population due to the Kiewa Hydro Scheme. It became the Mt Beauty High School in 1964. The blazer was worn as part of the winter uniform.Historical: Education in Mt Beauty commenced relatively late so there was less of a tradition. The decision to adopt a uniform is of interest to compare with other schools and the times.Pure wool dark green flannel pocket cut out from a Mt Beauty High School blazer. Emblem is machine stitched and has a yellow wattle decoration outside a yellow frame. Across the top of the frame in yellow 'High School", across the bottom of the frame "Mount Beauty", the 2 sides of the frame are hollow. Inside the frame is a stitched picture with a light blue sky, royal blue mountains with white peaks and a white curved path leads towards the mountains with light green 'paddocks' either side.
