Shows the detailed switch locations that enable the overhead to be isolated or changed when electrical work was being undertaken on the overhead that required it to be isolated. Shows how the various sections were fed from the power station. Used on Melbourne trams until the late 1950's when changed for trolley skids to bring the power from the overhead into the tram. Trolley wire sample from the overhead at the former South Melbourne depot mounted with two nails from the rear on a white painted wooden block, with the label "Tramway Trolley Wire from South Melbourne Depot 1925-1997" The label has been printed onto a manila coloured sheet and nailed to the side of the block. Report - typed carbon copy - 13 foolscap sheets stapled within a brown card folder bound with red adhesive tape. Titled "Ropes - Trolley", dated October 1954 though has a date stamp on the first page of the report itself of 26/10/1955, prepared by the MMTB Testing Department, Report No. R7/1/43. Report looks at the insulation resistance offered by trolley ropes when dry and wet, new and used ropes and the possibility of causing electric shocks.
