Annual Boat Race Head of the Lake Regatta commenced 1912. Ballarat schools compete on Lake Wendouree.Girls crews competed initially in about 1980. Grammar School supporters purchased hats with bands from School Shop and badges from Krome House girls to wear to Boat Race.

Physical description

Straw boater with satin ribbon hatband in three colours. Wide purple (faded from royal blue) ribbon has brown ribbon of half width and narrow gold ribbon stitched to bottom edge, tied in flat bow at back with "V" cut at each end.8 circular boat race badges of different designs pinned to hatband around circumference.Brown hat elastic stitched at crown edge in two places with coarse thread.
