Many schools produced magazines. PLC published Patchwork, MLC The Bluebell, and Queens College MAG (Mainly About Girls).
Although Queens claimed to be the first school in Ballarat to produce a magazine, Grenville College published The Gnarr Gnat around 1885, and Loreto wrote, edited and printed Eucalyptus Blossoms around 1883.
Significance
The Queen's School magazine 'Mainly About Girls' (MAG) began in 1905 so that there are few examples in existence. The early copies are rare and significant for the information they contain such as names, staff, school life and social attitudes. They are handwritten and contain artist's illustrations which are aesthetically significant due to their nature. Queens College MAG (Mainly About Girls).
