The glass vessel time capsule was placed under the Alfred Hospital Foundation Stone 6th March 1869 and contained items of interest. It was unearthed in early 1979 and its contents were water damaged and included medals, coins and the newspaper of the day.
The time capsule is significant as it shows evidence of the age of the Hospital and freezes a historical era.
A barrel shaped vessel. Thick clear glass. Part of the vessel was broken at some stage.The glass lid is in the vessel.Soil is still in the base of the vessel and on the glass.Buried in 1869. Unearthed 1979.
Inscriptions & markings
The vessel has simple bands of etched glass markings vertical and horizontal.
