Historical information

H Company 1st Infantry Regiment, located at Albury NSW, was a unit of the New South Wales Colonial Forces. Following federation it was converted to artillery and became No 4 Battery Australian Field Artillery (Albury Battery). Colour-Sergeant George A Williams, a citizen soldier, conducted a painting and decorating business in Albury. Morris Blasbalk was a well established jeweller in Albury. This trophy was donated to 8/13 VMR Collection with other memorabilia of the Albury Battery AFA.

Significance

This trophy is representative of community support for a regional town's citizen soldiers and shows the high regard in which those soldiers were held.

Physical description

Tall silver plated cup with two handles and lid featuring a figurine of a rifleman in uniform of the Victorian era.
