Historical information
The M16 WWI German helmet had a cylindrical shaped dome for the main head covering and a visor, dome and neck guard. The visor extend out to provide protection and shade, and the shield attached with side lugs. The chin straps were outside the helmet and removable, therefore many were lost during the war period and needed replacing.
Most helmets were a green/grey colour with a shiny appearance and hard finish.
