Historical information

The Warrnambool Industrial and Art Exhibition was held in the Warrnambool Town Hall and adjacent buildings with temporary buildings attached and went from the 21st December 1896 to the 19th March 1897. It featured displays and exhibitions in courts (Art, Agriculture, Marine ,Education, Business etc), daily entertainment and competitions and associated carnivals and activities. These invoices relate to the sale of materials from the dismantling of the temporary buildings used for the exhibition. The materials were auctioned by John Hyland and Archibald MacFarlane on a commission basis.

Significance
