The NMIT (now Melbourne Polytechnic) Historical Archive was initially collated to celebrate NMIT’s centenary in 2012.

The Historical Archive is open to MP staff, students and the general public by appointment.

Donations

MP Historical Archives will accept donations of records and/or artefacts in most formats including works on paper, audio and film (tape), digital recordings, photographs and where possible and appropriate, clothing and equipment.

Our collection

NMIT Archive Collection (2012)

The Melbourne Polytechnic (MP) Archive collects and maintains records and artefacts relating to MP’s organisational history and that of antecedent institutions as well as records identified as having a long term or permanent retention. Melbourne Polytechnic also collects and maintains records and artefacts that support its research.

The collection includes records created by the following MP iterations and antecedent institutions: Collingwood Technical School, Collingwood Technical College, Collingwood College of TAFE, Preston Technical School, Preston Technical College, Preston College of TAFE, Northern Metropolitan College of TAFE (NMCOT), Northern Metropolitan Institute of TAFE and NMIT.
