Historical Information

This photo by Jack Eden shows Gary Birdall leaning against his car at Cronulla Beach in 1959. Gary was a favourite with photographers during this period. A photograph of him charging huge Cronulla Point featured on the cover of The Atlantics record BOMBORA.

Significance

This photograph is of natiuonal significance showcasing one of the most talented young surfers to come out of Cronulla in the early sixties. Gary Birdsall competed in many of the first surfing contests around Australia and today is an accomplished artist.
