The first Tawonga Public Hall was opened in grand style with a Grand Ball and Opening Night with musical items, a first class orchestra and supper included. All costing 2/6
The old hall was demolished after the 'new' one was built and being used demonstrating that a hall was considered a necessary community facility for the town

Significance

This was the first public hall in Tawonga. On the ticket, W.J. Cooper was Vice President and J.F Cooper was Hon Secretary. Coopers were a prominent name in the early days of Tawonga. Frank Cooper donated the land which the present Tawonga Primary School is built on.
