Yields information about the presentation of a set of tickets that were presented to the City of Ballarat at the time of closure of the system.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 22 September 1971 of tickets and passes being given to the City of Ballarat by Mr. Denmead. Shows close up photo of ESCo 1 1/2d tokens, a photograph of a presentation sheets of sample tickets dated 1906 and Mr. Denmead holding metal passes and two tokens. Notes the items as being passed to Council for safe keeping. Article notes that the tokens in the close up photo was owned by Mr. Lyle Kay of 5A Finch St. Ballarat. Carols by Candlelight is a Christmas concert held at the Sidney Myer Music bowl. Programs and candle holders were sold, and collections made during the event to raise money for the Austin Hospital and the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind. 3KZ also recorded the concert, which was played on radio on Christmas Day with a phone number to ring to donate. Prior to the Carols program at 9pm, the performance was opened by the Melbourne Lord Mayer and the process of torchbearers (100 girls dressed in white flowing dresses walk slowly in time with the music to the stage, trained by Vera Hopton) as a prelude to the event. Nelse Lodge was established in Falls Creek c1958 probably by Des Crosser. It was later purchased by Bob Scott (Scotty). He was killed during a tragic accident during the construction of the Sun Valley T-bar. In 1973, Bob's widow sold Nelse Lodge to Jack and Elva Smith who were proprietors at the time this brochure was published.This brochure is significant because it is linked to one of the early lodges established in Falls Creek.
