Yields information about the incidents/accidents that can occur on a street tramway system - collisions resulting in the rare virtual total demolition of a tram in Ballarat.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, front page, Thursday, 17 September 1970 with photo, of the collision between No. 20 and a semi trailer the previous evening in Victoria St. that wrecked No. 20. Gives quotes from eye witness, gives name of tram driver, Ian Maxwell Tierney, who jumped from tram before the collision, said the only passenger who was not injured was Miss Maree Bernadette Matthews about 17 of Reid St. Ballarat and the truck driver Ronald Frederick Cox 35 of Hickman St. was trapped in the cabin of the truck for some time. Accident happened about 7.30pm. Photo (see also item 1089 for print) shows by a white arrow where the woman was sitting. Also has a small inset photo in the top left hand corner showing a single truck tram. A tariff flyer for "The Hermitage" at Narbethong in Victoria dated June 1991.A tariff flyer for "The Hermitage" at Narbethong in Victoria dated June 1991. "The Hermitage" was built by photographer John William Lindt as a home and guesthouse in 1894. John Lindt had previously photographed the mountain scenery of the Black Spur and purchased 71 acres and subseqently built his home and guesthouse from where he continued his career. "The Hermitage had a garden designed by John Lindt's friend, Ferdinand von Mueller, who was at one stage the Director of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens. The garden featured New Guinea tree houses from which John Lindt made frequent panoramas of his property and the surrounding forest of towering mountain ash. Aged 81 Lindt died of heart failure during disastrous bushfires on 19 February 1926 at the Hermitage. He was survived by his wife Catherine who continued to run ‘The Hermitage’ guest house before she retired to the city. Clipping from the Courier, Ballarat, Monday April 19, 1971, titled "Move to Keep some trams for Tourists" front page as it gives the price (of 6 cents) and number of pages (16), with the article about the first positive move to establish a working tramway museum in Wendouree Parade as a historical feature and tourist attraction was made with the formation of a project committee yesterday. Covers the formation of the Lake Wendouree Tramways Museum Committee, 50 people attending the meeting at Brown Hill, mentions Mr. Maurice Calnin, Mr. C. (Bill) Jessup, (spelt Jessop) and gives notes on proposals, other similar museum and potentials. Item was spread over two pages, second part on page 13.
