Robin Boyd Foundation
Newspaper - Clipping, The Australian, World Body in Utzon dispute, 22.4.1966
Robin Boyd’s desk cupboard contained two exercise books (item D482.1-D482.2) and assorted articles, essays and other material regarding the building of the Sydney Opera House, inserted inside the front cover of Walkabout magazine, July 1966 (item P1377). This publication is one of those inserts. Many of these were collected by Boyd’s eldest daughter, Mandie, who recalls that her father was writing a book, but was very disillusioned with the way the entire Opera House saga unfolded.Newspaper clipping"22-4-66 Austr'n" in Robin Boyd's handwritingsydney opera house, utzon, sydney opera house project, walsh st library -

Slide - Architectural Drawing, Kew Public Offices, 1887
A civic campaign for new public offices developed in Kew in the 1880s. After much deliberation, the location chosen was the junction of Bulleen and Cotham Roads. The buildings were designed by George Watson and John Henry Harvey, architects within the Department of Public Works (Victoria). Building was commenced in 1887, and after one year, the buildings were opened. The Post Office was transferred to the new Commonwealth Government in 1901. The Police Station and Court House, sold by the Victorian Government to the City of Boroondara in 2007, are now a community cultural centre and performing arts venue. The buildings were listed on the Victorian Heritage Register Register (HO885) in 1991. They are historically and architecturally significant to the State Of Victoria because Watson and Harvey's designs exhibit diversity in integrating civil offices, they accommodate the apex of road junctions, and they demonstrate a departure from the contemporaneously favoured High Victorian Classical to the Queen Anne style in the design of civic buildings. 35mm colour transparency of an original plan by George Watson and John Henry Harvey, architects of the Department of Public Works (Victoria), in 1887 for New Public Offices at Kew. This plan was copied by the donor from an original held at the Commonwealth Archives in Brighton (Vic). The copy was made to illustrate a report that the donor made on ‘The functional planning design, building materials and construction methods of the Kew Post Office’ as part of course work at RMIT.NEW PUBLIC OFFICES KEW / BLOCK PLAN / SCALE 16 FEET TO ONE INCH / DRAWING NO 4kew court house, kew police station, kew post office, architectural drawings, khs - slides, new public offices — kew (vic.), architecture — queen anne style -

Slide - 'Studley House', Nolan Avenue, 1976
Colour transparency (slide) created in June 1976 during a tour by the Junior National Trust, which was led by members of Kew Historical Society. The collection of 21 slides reveals that the tour covered all parts of Kew, but focused understandably on heritage buildings and sites.Image of an historic place in Kew that can be dated to an exact time and place. The images, albeit amateurish in composition, frequently reveal aspects of important buildings and sites that have changed over time.35mm colour transparency of Studley House in Nolan Avenue, Kew, now part of Xavier Primary School. The Victorian Historic Buildings Register describes the building as: ""Studley House", 15 Nolan Avenue Kew is an early house, extensively added to, which is of architectural importance in its present form and has important historical associations with John Hodgson, an early settler in the district and with subsequent owners. The first part of the house is an early and particularly fine example of the Italianate style in Victoria. The later additions dwarf the original house but are of interest in their own right. Plaster and woodwork internally and some stained glass are notable."historic houses -- kew (vic.), nolan avenue -- kew (vic), xavier college -- kew (vic.), studley house -- nolan avenue -- kew (vic.) -
