The Methodist Girls' Comradeship was formed in 1918 with the first Branch being in Bondi, NSW. There were three sections: Junior Rays, 8 - 11 years; Senior Rays, 11 - 15 years and Comrades, 15 years and over. The aims of the MGC was to "challenge young people with the saving power of Jesus Christ and provide avenues of christian service" and "to provide for the spiritual, social, physical and educational welfare of the members". The MGC's motto was "The Utmost for the Highest".White and blue paper folded pamphlet/poster with information about the Methodist Girls' Comradeship and Methodist Order of Knights. Information includes their laws, promises, pledges, mottos, sections and uniform. The Ballarat School of Mines Magazine does not appear to have been publishing in 1914, 1915, 1917, 1918, and 1919.A red bound copy of the Ballarat School of Mines Students' Magazine, holding copies for years 1916 to 1923. 1916 The 1916 Students' Magazine features many references to World War One, including an image of Ted Cannon, a gifted artist attending the Ballarat Technical Art School (part of the Ballarat School of Mines [SMB] campus) from 1912. After completing his art course Ted was employed as an assistant teacher at the Art School, before taking a position as cartoonist with the Ballarat Star newspaper at the end of 1914. In 1915 Ted was awarded the prestigious Victorian Education Department Senior Technical School Scholarship. Only months into his scholarship, Ted volunteered for the AIF. Yields information about the trams in Ballarat being decorated for specific occasions or carrying banners for advertising.Two newspaper clipping from The Courier, titled 1. - "Mobile Advertising Medium" - advertising Buy Australian Made, shows a banner on the side of tram 21 (five windows) with a depot employee looking at the banner. Undated. 2 - "Decorated Trams" - about an approach from Cr. Nicholson to the SEC Manager Mr. Linaker, about decorating a tram - purpose unknown, but Mr Linaker advised that all would carry flags - possibly at the time of the royal visit. Has been marked with a red cross through part of the cutting. Undated.
