Ephemera - Ticket/s, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), SEC 3d, mid 1950's to early 1960's
Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block with one remaining ticket - black ink on off white paper, denomination 3d, numbered E383399, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. Originally a block of 200 tickets been stapled onto a pink coloured cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small green coloured cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. The ticket price is in orange ink while the ticket number itself is in black ink. The rear of the ticket is blank. The cardboard rear has been trimmed and punched with a ticket punch. Ticket is different to other 3d tickets, could have been printed earlier than these. See also Reg Item 5668 for a stand alone ticket. Legacy hold an Anzac Commemoration Service for Students every year. For many years it was simultaneously broadcast on the ABC radio stations around the State for students that could not attend. For Cinderella dance at the Dandies' at Wickliffe House St Kilda. Wickcliffe House was an elaborate wedding cake of a house, built in 1873 on one of the prime pieces of land in St Kilda overlooking the bay. In 1912 it was converted to cafe and theatre called Arcadia and subsequently The Dandies open Air Theatre. It was demolished in.the 1970's and the land is now occupied by Arrandale, one of the last high rises to be built along the foreshore. Wickliffe was built for John Dickson Wyelaskie who was a higly successful parstoralist in the Western District.
