Acknowledgements: The book project Wonderful Warrandyte-A Portrait was made possible by a grant under the Australian Government's 2012-2013 Your Community Heritage Program (Your Community Heritage - Sharing Community Heritage Stories). Several members of the Warrandyte Historical Society were involved in this book project which evolved after several years of development ideas. Valerie Polley wrote the text and selected photographs. When Singapore fell dramatically to the Japanese on 15 February 1942, hundreds of people scrambled to leave. Amongst the evacuees were 65 Australian nurses. They boarded a coastal freighter named the Vyner Brooke, which was sunk by the Japanese. The Warrnambool Fire Brigade was formed in 1863. The first fire engine house was in Liebig Street and carters were required to carry water to fire scenes. In 1889 the Council built a new Fire Station on Liebig Street and Warrnambool hosted its own Annual Demonstration in 1894. In 1891 the volunteer brigade became part of the Country Fire Brigade. The Fire Station relocated to Raglan Parade in 1915 and then to Timor Street in 1961. In 1989 the Brigade moved back to Raglan Parade. This booklet is a memento of the State Championships that were held in Warrnambool to mark 150 years of community service to Warrnambool by the Warrnambool Fire Brigade (2013).This is a booklet of 96 pages containing printed material, maps, advertisements, photographs and tables. The back cover is red with a white, orange and yellow Origin Energy symbol and the front cover has a black background with an image of flames and a badge with the title of the booklet. This minute book records the reformed Science and Field Naturalists Club of the Ballarat School of Mines. Such a club had existed in 1888 and 1889. Final recorded meeting took place on 17th November 1918, resolved that "there would be no further meeting of the Club until further notice was given."
