Newspaper clipping titled: “Tram burns after collision with truck” – The Age 5/9/70 “Quite heroes drag driver from flames” by Robert Parsonage Tram and semi-trailer crash in Thornbury, Route # 9A, driver Bill Armitage suffered a broken right leg and arm and severe burns to most of his body, in critical condition in Preston and Northcote Community Hospital. Semi-trailer driver, Brian Carroll, 25 received burns and is in serious condition in hospital. Conductor Ted Clark, about 35, not injured and helped only passenger, and elderly woman from the tram. Booklet - Golden Square High School
Golden Square High School opened in temporary accommodation at Camp Hill Primary school in 1960 before its move to a permanent home at 50 MacDougall Rd., Golden Square in 1962. In 1978 it became a 7-10 school and a feeder school to Bendigo Senior Secondary School. A hearing impaired unit was opened in 1986. In 2008 the campus was closed and the students merged with Kangaroo Flat Secondary and Flora Hill Secondary schools.16-page soft brown cover booklet "Indicator" being the first edition of the annual magazine of Golden Square High School No. 1 1961. Bendigo Advertiser ''The way we were'' from 2000. Hotel: Golden Gully. A weatherboard hotel occupied this site from the 1850s. Its replacement was for many years owned by Edward Martin, who erected the present façade. It was de-licensed in 1916, but continued for a few years as a shop.
