Prepaid MMTB tickets for use on MMTB services. Has the conditions of use on the rear. These were printed in sheets and torn off as needed by the issuing hospital or service for use by an Incapacitated soldier. Has been punched at section 6 on the inbound journey. The MMTB 1975 Sections and Fares book for example on page 86 advises that they were issued to ex-servicemen who have suffered the loss of an arm as the result of war service. The Closing Ceremony Program from the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games collected by Doug Pleasance from working at the Olympics.The Closing Ceremony Program is an oversized booklet. The cover depicts a hall with fireworks above, the colours a predominantly reds. The top of the page has the Olympic rings made up of small dots, the fireworks shoot over the rings breaking their lines. The back cover depicts the same. Slide photographs of two Stanhope residents prepared to go to the ball held in honour of Princess Alexandra's visit to Melbourne in September 1959. The ball was held at the Melbourne Town Hall. From a book compiled by Matron Dorrie Vines, the girls are Betty Henderson and Helen McBain. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. This photograph was taken around 1958 long before this volcano erupted and obliterated the Township of Rabaul, New Britain. On October 7, 2006, Rabaul Volcano on the northeastern tip of New Britain produced a large-scale eruption. According to ReliefWeb, the eruption shook windows and rained heavy ash and small stones on the city of Rabaul as authorities declared a state of emergency. From 1845, separate and competing volunteer fire brigades were established in Melbourne and grew in number. Following the passage of the Fire Brigades Act 1890 and the creation of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) on 1 May 1891, the 56 volunteer brigades that then existed were disbanded and the firefighters were invited to join the MFB. The MFB was abolished in 2020 and the firefighters absorbed into the newly established Fire Rescue Victoria.White coloured rectangular shaped card printed in black on both sides. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block with five remaining tickets - green ink on off white paper, denomination 5d, numbered W767995 - 99, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. Originally a block of 200 tickets been stapled onto a plain cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a off white coloured cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. The ticket price is in green ink while the ticket number itself is in black ink. On rear in green ink is a diagonal criss cross or tartan pattern. See also Reg Item 3994 for a similar ticket. Slide, Robin Boyd, 1956-1957
Robin Boyd developed a close friendship with the founder of the Bauhaus in Weimar Germany, Walter Gropius, who had moved to the USA in the 1930s. Through this connection, Boyd was invited to be the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Bemis Professor at the School in the North American academic year 1956-7. Robin and Patricia Boyd, with their youngest daughter Suzy, were based in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the year. Boyd gave some lectures at MIT and he was also invited to give lectures at many other universities, allowing him to travel widely within the USA, especially on the East Coast. This gave him the opportunity to meet architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen, Paul Rudolph and many others, and visit the offices of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and places like Taliesin and the General Motors Technical Center Detroit. On the way home, the Boyds visited London, Berlin, Paris and Le Corbusier’s Ronchamp Chapel in France.Colour slide in a mount.
