This popular shop in Marysville was originally opened in the old Barton house by Frank and Val Pryor. The lolly shop premises were destroyed, along with most of the buildings in Marysville, in the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires. The then owner, Julia Harris, reopened the lolly shop in an old shipping container until the premises was rebuilt. The Star Theatre opened on 7th November 1925, with 991 seats located in orchestra and balcony levels. It was rebuilt to the plans of architect Geoffrey S. Richards, opening of 27th October 1937. In 2011, there was a small Star Cinema operating in the former balcony area. The main orchestra floor has been in use as a plumbers merchants, but is unused. Carrie Moore (31 July 1882 – 5 September 1956) was an Australian actress who achieved fame on the Australian and British stage. She was born Caroline Ellen Moore in Geelong, Victoria, on 31 July 1882. Moore performed for J.C. Williamson's "Royal Comic Opera Company" in a number of leading roles and in 1903 left for England, spending five years on the London stage, returning in 1908. She performed at the Royal Princess Theatre in Bendigo on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th September 1913. Assisted by Mr Reginald Kenneth she presented several long songs and duets. Robin Boyd was appointed Exhibits Architect for the Australian Pavilion at Expo ‘67 in Montreal. The garden outside the pavilion featured a sculptural pool, a coral display, animal pool, a pit for kangaroos and Eucalypts and other native plants. The indoor exhibits covered aspects of Australian art and culture, architecture, industrial design and scientific innovation, such as the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Power Scheme, the Parkes radio telescope, the design of Canberra, and the Australian way of life.Colour slide in a mount.
