The newsletter was published to address the Mercantile Marine primarily officers in the service. This is the number 19. The term "Merchant Navy" was coined in 1919 by King George V. So this foyer predates 1919.An unusual example of newsletter circulated by the Missions to Seamen (UK) during WW1. A flyer that was produced as a guide to Cambarville near Marysville in Victoria.A flyer that was produced as a guide to Cambarville near Marysville in Victoria. Cambarville is notable for its giant mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) trees within the Cumberland Memorial Scenic Reserve, and relics from former sawmills and gold mining. The Big Culvert is located nearby on the Marysville-Woods Point Road, which was historically part of the Yarra Track. Cambarville was established as a timber mill town in the 1940s. Timber mill owners A Cameron and FJ Barton named Cambarville. They established the mill to salvage timber from trees destroyed in the 1939 bushfires. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 200 tickets - teal ink on off white, slightly greasy feel paper with numbers printed in black, denomination 20c, lettered A 173400 - A173599, headed Ballarat Tourist Tramway. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple. The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Tickets in use as adult return tickets from 24/12/1975 to 1/11/75, child return tickets from 1/11/75 to 30/6/78 and as child singles from 1/7/78 to 1/11/80. Set of 13 mixed SEC decimal tickets found in Ballarat No. 18, behind the north side sandbox, No. 2 end, 6/12/1997. Tickets have been used and are generally in a good condition. The image file shows the nature of the damage. Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. The original Victoria Theatre opened on 16 February 1856 with a season by Lola Montez. She performed several farces and her famous spider dance, delighted the diggers and enraged the sensibilities of respectable people, with Henry Seekamp in the famous "whipping" incident with Montez in Ballarat. The program consisted of popular melodramas, farces and hits such as Rob Roy, The Lady of Lyons and the Count of Monte Cristo. The nautical drama Black-Eyed Susan was also very popular.
