Single sheet colour calendar for 1983, published by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), successors to the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board. Large portion of the calendar features the changeover from the MMTB to the MTA - eg green colours replacing the orange. Also on the base of the cartoon by Augustine is a number of caricatures of well known MMTB/MTA personnel. On top of the calendar has the letters M&MTB being demolished and those of the MTA being positioned. Printed on heavy cartridge paper. Invitation to the official opening of the Alister Clark Memorial Rose Garden at the City Gardens, Blessington Street St Kilda (now the St Kilda Botanical Gardens) on 18 November 1950. Alister Clark was a foundation member of the National Rose Society of Victoria in 1900 and served as its president. He put great effort and skill into developing new varieties that were grown throughout Australia and were highly regarded in the USA. Rectangular brass / tin box issued to allied servicemen Christmas 1914, organised by Princess Mary (daughter of King George V). the tin was presented to all the troops at War for Christmas containing a photo of King George and Queen Mary, a Christmas card tobacco or chocolate. Initially to seamen at sea and soldiers at the front but widened as many thought they missed out. Funding the Christmas boxes were organised by public donation.Tin lid impressed with a female head in profile encircled with a wreath, and two "M". The tin is dated Christmas 1914. Ephemera - Program, Billiards Exhibition by World Champion Walter Lindrum, 1943
Walter Lindrum OBE (1898 - 1960) is often considered to be the greatest player ever seen in the sport of billiards, with some 57 world records to his credit. He is often referred to as one of the Australian all-time great sporting heroes along with Sir Donald Bradman and Sir Hubert Opperman. During World War II, he raised over $1 million for charity, mainly through staging nearly 4000 exhibition matches throughout Australia. The full date of the exhibition is not shown on the program but, given that it was held during WWII, it was likely to have been 9 June 1943.
