Document, Anzac Day Appeal 2021, 2021
An insert made to go with promotional material in the 2021 Anzac Day direct mail appeal. The recipes include a rosemary damper, a lemon and rosemary cake, traditional Anzac biscuits and a cocktail called rosemary fizz. The use of rosemary promotes the idea of remembrance. During the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021 there was an increase in time people spent at home, both during enforced lockdowns and with increased working from home, so these recipes were something different for people to try and make.A record that Legacy was promoting remembrance using recipes that included rosemary.Colour printed brochure with perforations that could be torn into four recipes.recipes, rosemary -

The statue is a bust of George Evans who settled in Sunbury along the Jacksons Creek and built a homestead which he named 'Emu Bottom'. The statue was originally erected on the site in 1986 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of European settlement in the area. A time capsule was buried at the base of the statue and was lifted and opened in 2011 when the 175th anniversary was celebrated. After that event a second capsule was buried along with the original one.A coloured photograph of a statue of the bust of a bearded man set in a brick paved block in a garden. The original Eltham Police Station was used up till about 1960. The building was then taken over and used by the Vermin and Noxious weeds Destruction Section of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey. They vacated the building c.March 1981 and it remained unoccupied for a period of time whilst its future was discussed in Council. About 1986 the Shire took over use of the Police Residence and renovated it for use by the Shire Parks and Environment Office. The original Police Station was termite infested and was removed. It was later replaced by a replica building which was used as a lunchroom for Council employees working at the site. Photograph - Group of 30 Men, Kew Cottages
The Children's Cottages at Kew were first opened in 1887 as the "Idiot Ward" of Kew Asylum. Located on the asylum's grounds, the children's cottages were established to provide separate accommodation for child inmates who had previously been housed with adult patients. Although the Cottages only admitted children as patients, many of those children remained in residence at the Cottages as adults. The function of the institution was to provide accommodation and educational instruction for intellectually disabled children. Some Wards of the State and other various "difficult" children were also admitted.Shortly after opening, the Idiot Ward began functioning separately from the Kew Lunatic Asylum, and became known as the Kew Idiot Asylum from 1887 until c.1929. From 1929 they have been known as the "Children's Cottages, Kew" or alternatively "Kew Cottages Training Centre". The institution was finally closed in July 2008. [Source: Wikipedia, 2016]One of a series of framed historical photographs of the Kew Cottages that once formed part of the collection of the Kew Cottages Historical Society, founded by Dr. Cliff Judge and Fran Van Brummelen in the 1980s. The set contains both copies of originals in other collections such as the Public Record Office Victoria and photographs taken by Dr Judge for his books on intellectual disability in Victoria. The significance of the set of framed photographs is that they provide a curated collection of images of the development of the Cottages over a one hundred year period.Framed photograph, forming part of the Kew Cottages collection, donated by Kew Cottages Historical Society 1987-1993 in 1993. Dr. Judge was a consultant psychiatrist at the cottages for 14 years, as well as an author and vocal advocate for the intellectually disabled and their families."Kew Cottages - Group of 30 Men – Hospital Ward in Background. A photo of boys in line receiving a meal at a camp at an unknown camp or date. It came from an envelope with other Camp photos of varying dates. The Legacy envelope was marked "P6 Junior Legatee Camps and Hols" in red pen, and dated Jan 1977 in pencil. The contents will be items 00418 to 00425. Melbourne Legacy arranged many events for Junior Legatees to experience. For many years a regular event was a two week camp at Somers Camp. It started in the 1930s with outings to the property of Legacy founder, Legatee Stan Savige, who had a place in Balnarring. Permanent camp buildings were built and with an association with Lord Somers (Governor of Victoria) it was called Somers Camp. The camps gave the children an opportunity of a summer beach holiday with other Legacy children.A record of Junior Legatee camps.Black and white photo of boys being fed at a camp.P6 / Legacy / 4 in blue pen.
