Photograph, Site of Jeannie Richardson's Home 1973
John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the area working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. It was in the clearing on the left that John William (Willie) Richardson built a home for his wife Jeanie Green. It was called Mount Calvin. Jeanie was often ill and the family left the area seeking a warmer climate. They eventually settled in Brisbane. Willie sold the home and 60 acres around it to W. Rowse. Jeanie died in 1916. The remainder of the land was sold by solicitors to cover debts. Black and white photograph showing a treed hillside with a cleared area to the left hand side. Photograph - 9 Weybridge Street, Surrey Hills, On The Street Where You Live Project
Photos documenting this address as part of a photographic series undertaken by volunteer photographers during 2013 and 2014 for The Street Where You Live Project. This was organised through the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre and covered the postcode 3127 in the cities of Boroondara and Whitehorse. These photos provide a snapshot of real estate in the suburbs of Mont Albert and Surrey Hills during a period of rapid change with many properties on large blocks demolished to create higher density residential development or renewal of single dwellings. At particular risk were properties not covered by heritage overlays, especially interwar housing and post 1950's housing. -

Photograph, Undated
The original Methodist Church in Warrnambool was erected on a site facing Liebig and Koroit Streets in 1850, but it proved to be not satisfactory because of its construction and being built over wombat holes. The second church was erected around the old church and opened 23 May 1858. That church remained in place for 81 years until 1939 when a new church was built and opened. The current Uniting Church is the 1939 Methodist Church.Sepia photograph mounted on card showing the exterior of the Warrnambool Methodist (Wesley Chapel) Church.warrnambool; methodist church; uniting church; koroit street; liebig street. -

Photograph, Kath Power, Magpie Farmhouse, South Morang, March 1993
One of a series of photographs taken at Magpie Farmhouse by Kath Power when the house was being demolished, March 1993. Magpie Farmhouse, Plenty Road, South Morang. This charming old bluestone farmhouse with its moss-covered slate roof was owned for many years by one of the earliest families to settle in South Morang, the Le Pages. Two brothers, Peter and Charles Le Page, arrived in Australia from the island of Guernsey in the English Channel, in 1852 and 1854 respectively. After spending three years on the Bendigo, Castlemaine and other diggings, Peter settled in South Morang in 1855. Charles spent ten years on the Maryborough, Back Creek and Daylesford diggings before settling at South Morang in 1864. Both Peter and Charles married and raised large families at South Morang. Although the exact date is unknown, it would appear that Peter Le Page had purchased the property, known in recent times as Magpie Farm, by the 1880s. The date of construction and name of the builder of the farmhouse are also unknown, but the house would appear to have been built at least as early as the 1860s. By the early 1900s, Peter Le Page owned four farms at South Morang - Rosevilla, Hawkstowe, Riverview, and today's Magpie Farm. His son Arthur carried on dairying on the property for many years before selling out during the 1930s to the Tarry family. Subsequent owners have been the McMurray, McWilliam, Krupi and Heal families. Today the Peters family own the property although the farmhouse is currently tenanted. Dairying ceased during the late 1960s. The house was sold 1986 and demolished 1993.
