Peninsula Grammar
Badge - Metal Hat Badge, Peninsula Grammar Cadet Unit Silver Metal Badge for Slouch Hat
These Silver Cadet Badges are worn on the front of slouch hats which are traditionally worn by senior cadets for all parades and by the whole unit for Final Parades and formal events (ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies). These badges are significant as most cadet units do not have a separate unit badge for their slouch hats and instead wear the similar Australian Army Cadets badge. However, a separate badge is often commonplace within school units as community units will usually display the other badge. 2 x Silver Metal Badge showcasing the Peninsula Grammar logo in a sphere of silver. Possibility for clasps on back and comes attached with two gold hat pins to do so. Album - Bob Hymans' Photos - Bob skiing
Bob (Herman) Hymans (a former member of the Royal Netherlands Navy) was born in Bloemendaal, Holland on 30th September 1922. During World War II he fought against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was imprisoned in Changi and on the Burma Railway. After gaining qualifications as a Ski Instructor, Bob arrived in Falls Creek in July 1950. Working as an Instructor and Supervisor at Bogong Lodge, Bob decided his future was in accommodation. He was successful in negotiating an indenture for land from the State Electricity Commission (SEC). It took Bob two years to build his Grand Coeur Chalet but, tragically, it was burned down in August 1961. Bob also built the first Chairlift in Australia. This was a single chairlift and the structure was built from wooden electricity poles. He was constantly full of new ideas and proposals for the village. Bob Hymans die on 7th July 2007. This photo collection belonged to Bob Hymans and primarily documents the building of his chalet, Grand Coeur. This album is significant because it documents the building of an important chalet at Falls Creek and the work of one of its pioneers. Two black and white photographs of Bob Hymans.bob hymans, grand coeur chalet, falls creek pioneers -

Mission to Seafarers Victoria
Album (item) - Photograph Album, "Snapshots", c. 1950
This album was found with notes and letter from the donor Sadie Wilson a former member of the Ladies Harbour Light Guild and later Flying angels club. An HLG member in the immediate post WW2 period through to the 60s and possibly later, Sadie was recontacted in the early 2000s and participated in a reunion of former HLG members at the Mission. That is likely when she loaned or donated this album to the Mission. Along with her friend Berenice, Sadie also provided reminiscences of the Guild in the documentary "Light Bearers" filmed by Csilla Csongway and Matt Blackwood in 2003.Sadie Wilson's album has assisted with the cross referencing, verification, dating and identification of other images and material in the MTS found Archive. Her reminiscences provide an important rare verbatim insight into the experience of being a member of HLG in the mid 20th C.
