Certificate - Motor Cycle Licence, Chief Commissioner of Police, Melbourne, 1916
This is a licence for a driver of a motor cycle in Victoria. The licence was issued in March 1916 to William Wines of Warrnambool. The licence was valid for one year. The form used was actually one for a motor car but the word 'cycle' was added in handwritten ink. This licence is of considerable interest as 1916 is an early date for the ownership of a motor cycle in WarrnamboolThis is a sheet of paper providing a motor cycle licence. The paper has the Victorian Coat of Arms, black printing and handwritten information in black ink. The paper is a little crumpled and stained. Port Fairy Historical Society Museum and Archives
Postcard, Valentines -Real photo Series, "The Mound" Gardens, Port Fairy Victoria
"The Mound" Gardens, Port Fairy. Showing children. The Port Fairy Botanical Gardens were formed in 1856 making it one of the earliest gardens in Victoria. The first curator was James Prior, he was paid fifty-two pounds per annum. He was an outstanding curator having been apprenticed to the trade in England at the age of 12, his brother Edward in later years was the Curator of the Koroit Gardens. Prior retired in 1903. During the years of his curatorship Port Fairy was said to have the best gardens outside the city of Melbourne, he was constantly in touch with Baron Von Mueller and later Guilfoyle of the Royal Botanical Gardens of Melbourne. In the early years plants from all over the world were planted here with varying rates of success many of them sent by Baron Von Mueller. In the 1930’ and 40’s the gardens were still very beautiful, and the curator was Roy Manuell. The beautiful iron gates at the entrance were destroyed in the 1946 floods and were replaced in 1989 using some of the material from the original gates. From the 1950’s on the gardens went into a state of decline, much being taken up by the caravan park until in 1986, after a public meeting ‘Friends of the Gardens’ was founded when the entrance section was restored. Album - Album page, Orrong Road, Circa 1972
This photograph is part of the Caulfield Historical Album 1972. This album was created in approximately 1972 as part of a project by the Caulfield Historical Society to assist in identifying buildings worthy of preservation. The album is related to a Survey the Caulfield Historical Society developed in collaboration with the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and Caulfield City Council to identify historic buildings within the City of Caulfield that warranted the protection of a National Trust Classification. Principal photographer thought to be Trevor Hart, member of Caulfield Historical Society. Most photographs were taken between 1966-1972 with a small number of photographs being older and from unknown sources. All photographs are black and white except where stated, with 386 photographs over 198 pages.Victorian Heritage Database https://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/35576 No. 70 Orrong Road is important as an exceptionally ornate Boom style villa residence in the terraced form and in this respect is rare in Caulfield. Its architectural value is enhanced by its intact state and by the manner in which its bold architectural expression is carried through into the hallway and staircase. Letter - KANGAROO FLAT GOLD MINE COLLECTION: FILE NOTE RE CENTRAL DEBORAH TOURIST MINE
Two page file note by J.O. Reynolds, Western Mining Corporation, 23rd December, 1980. 'R. Wright, Bendigo Office' is written on top right hand corner of document. File note details a meeting held between WMC and Bendigo Trust regarding the development of the Central Deborah Tourist Mine, where WMC would fund a $5,900 feasibility study to develop the mine as a tourist destination. It notes that there has been confusion re the insistence of WMC that the funding relates only to its purpose as a tourist destination and does not include ore haulage and the stamp battery. WMC stated emphatically that it did not envisage using the Central Deborah surface works for its own purposes.bendigo, gold mining, central deborah gold mine, bendigo, gold mining, goldfield, central deborah gold mine, western mining corporation, bendigo trust, bendigo mining nl, j.o. reynolds -

Medal - Object, Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, 1937
To recognise the dedication and service of non-military persons, the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (civil order) was established. Shortened to MBE, the award consists of a silver cross with a circular centre and a fleur de lis attached on four sides. Above the north facing fleur de lis is a crown which is connected to a rose pink crossgrain ribbon with pearl grey edges, and tied into a bow. In the central part is the profile of King George V and Queen Mary, and the words 'For God and Empire' in raised letters against a roughened background edging the portrait. On the rear are the copperplate letters 'GRI' (which stand for Georgius Rex Imperator) and an image of a crown directly above this. It is designed to be worn on the left hand side by the female recipient.
