Gwenllian Maude Dunstan Born: Long Gully, 8 August 1911, daughter of Thomas Dunstan and Maude Jane James Married: 1939, William James Rowe Gwenllian Rowe died Bendigo, 18 March 2002 William James Rowe Born: Long Gully, 1912, son of William James Rowe and Hilda May Goldsworthy Railway employee. William Rowe died Bendigo 24 June 1985. Both are buried at Bendigo Cemetery; Quick Lawn, Section 1, Row 1. (No photograph available) Bendigo Musical, Literacy and Elocutionary Society Competitions Certificate 1932. Third prize awarded to Gwen Dunstan for Champion Solo, Ladies and Gents 16 and under 21. Charity organisation, Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild, was formed within The Missions to Seamen Institute to provide a home away from home, for visiting seamen. These cards illustrate the rules for different type of Members and the suggested Intercession. These cards hold historical significance at a local level because it illustrates the membership types of the Ladies' Harbour Lights' Guild organization and how each member (according to membership) contributed to charity. The Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild grew to become a significant charity in Melbourne raising large amounts of money which helped to establish the current MTS building, supporting seafarers as well as attending social events. Uniform - GSSC School Jacket
Golden Square High School in the city of Bendigo, was established in temporary accommodation at Camp Hill Primary School in central Bendigo in 1960. With the completion of the new school's buildings, it moved to Golden Square in 1962, providing for Forms 1 to 6, now known as years 7 to 12. In 1978 it became a 7–10 school and was one of the original feeder schools to Bendigo Senior High School. In 1986, a Hearing Impaired Unit was established and in 1990 it underwent a name change to become Golden Square Secondary College. The Golden Square Secondary College campus closed on 28 November 2008. It merged with Kangaroo Flat and Flora Hill secondary colleges as part of the implementation of the Bendigo Education Plan. Its buildings were demolished. "William Edwin HAYWARD" VX30915 enlisted20.6.1940 age 27 years in 2/2nd Anti Aircraft Regt, embarked for the Middle East 5.2.1941, disembarked Australia 18.3.1942, embarked fro New Guinea 24.5.1942, disembarked Australia 7.2.1944, (received leave to Aust during that near 2 years) he was hospitalised with Dermatitis to face, arms & legs, Malaria, discharged from the AIF 3.10.1945. Enlisted 20 June 1940. Discharged 3 Oct 1945. Rank: Gunner 2/2nd ANTI AIRCRAFT REGT.Cushion - handcrafted, brown and red leather floor cushion or pouffe - a low footstool. The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. In 1977 8/13 VMR Regiment was reduced to an independent squadron A Squadron 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles and in 1991 was linked with 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse forming the VMR Squadron of that regiment.Khaki battledress jacket and trousers uniform complete with braces, shirt and tie.
