This image depicts the unsealed roads with potholes prevalent in the quickly developing suburbs of Black Rock and Beaumaris. In the post war era, as the suburbs of Beaumaris and Black Rock grew, the infrastructure for roads was falling behind. The unsealed roads were dusty in summer and muddy with potholes in winter.
