Domestic object - Candle Holders (2) & Lantern (1)
... Candle Holder...(Candle Holder 1) Likely used as a bedside or household...(Candle Holder 1) A round, shallow dish-style candle holder...(Candle Holder 1) Likely used as a bedside or household ...(Candle Holder 1) Likely used as a bedside or household candle holder in the late 19th or early 20th century. The enameled surface suggests it was made for durability and ease of cleaning. The handle design indicates it could be portable or mounted on a wall. (Candle Holder 2) Could have been used in homes, barns, or workshops for lighting. The metal construction suggests it was a practical and durable design. The reflector would have helped maximize light output, making it useful in dimly lit areas. (Lantern 3) Likely used for outdoor or travel lighting, possibly in the late 19th or early 20th century. The enclosed glass design suggests it was meant to protect the flame from wind and rain. Could have been used in homes, farms, or for transport by foot or carriage.(Candle Holder 1) A round, shallow dish-style candle holder with a central cylindrical candle socket. It has a curved handle on one side for carrying or wall mounting. The surface appears to have remnants of white enamel coating, which is chipped and worn. (Candle Holder 2) A round metal candle holder with a shallow dish and a cylindrical candle socket. Attached to the back is a small flame snuffer. (Lantern 3) A rectangular metal lantern with glass panels on the sides. Features a peaked, vented top for heat dissipation. A candle is visible inside, secured in place. The frame appears to be reinforced with metal wire.lantern, light, lamp, candle holder, candle, household item -

Domestic object - Candle stick holder, 1900-1930s
... Candle stick holder...candle stick holder... museum shipwreck coast candle stick holder candle holder enameled ...A candlestick holder is a device used to hold a candle in place. Candlesticks have a cup or a spike ("pricket") or both to keep the candle in place. Before the proliferation of electricity, candles were carried between rooms using a chamber stick, a short candlestick with a pan to catch dripping wax. Although electric lighting has phased out candles in much of the world, candlesticks and candelabras are still used in homes as decorative elements or to add atmosphere on special occasions. An item used in every home that did not have electricity from the late 19th to early 20th centuries as a lighting aid.Candlestick is round, hollowed scalloped edge to base. Coated with white enamel it features a large ring handle. Miners candle holder, Late 19th century
... Miners candle holder...This candle holder has a sharpened point to push or hammer... This candle holder has a sharpened point to push or hammer into soft ...This candle holder has a sharpened point to push or hammer into soft rock and a hook to hang on a ledge or piece of rock. It is intended to be used in a mine and many residents of Warrnambool and district went to the gold mining districts in the 19th century. But it could have been used in the Warrnambool district if a small night light was required in one of the many local quarries or even in the search for coal deposits in the region. It could also have been used in a household. This miner’s candle holder has no known local provenance but it is retained as an interesting example of a candle holder used in the past. This is a thin piece of metal tapering to a point at one end and curving around in a loop at the other end to make a handle. Along the straight metal piece is attached a curved metal hook. At the end of the loop is an open-ended circular piece with a serrated top. The circular piece has a rectangular-shaped end piece which enables the hole in the curved piece to be pushed out or pulled in to make the hole smaller or bigger. The metal is much rusted. 19th century mining, history of warrnambool -

... This item is a chamberstick, a type of portable candle...A small, circular metal chamberstick-style candle holder... married a SMITH. Candle Wick Holder Household Item Lighting WEBB ...This item is a chamberstick, a type of portable candle holder commonly used in the 18th and 19th centuries for personal lighting. Its compact design with a finger loop allowed it to be carried from room to room, often used for nighttime illumination before the widespread use of gas and electric lighting. The condition and patina suggest considerable age and frequent use. It may have been part of domestic life in a rural Australian household, possibly dating from the colonial or early Federation period. Colin WEBB's Great Grandmother used it to sew with. Her maiden name was Walker. She married a HEBBARD and her daughter married a SMITH.A small, circular metal chamberstick-style candle holder with a raised central socket designed to hold a taper candle. The base is a shallow dish to catch wax drips, with a slightly upturned edge. A short, curved finger loop is attached to the side of the base, allowing the user to carry it by hand. The holder shows significant patina, oxidation, and surface corrosion, suggesting it is made of copper or brass and has aged considerably. The handle appears partially broken or worn away.candle, wick, holder, household item, lighting, webb, smith, hebbard -
