Photograph, Black and White, of the Level Crossing in Epsom Road, Flemington or Ascot Vale showing the overhead arrangement and structures either side of the road to provide power to either the trams or the trains. The small signal box is in the view as well as the interlocked gates. A NMETL saloon tram is crossing the railway lines. Photo late 1919 or 1920. Has the words "VR Tramway Crossing at Epsom Rd showing insulators in tram line and special crossing fitting." The level crossing was electrified on 18-8-1919 and abolished mid 1925 when the underpass was built. Set of 7 typed, some bound foolscap documents associated with the agreement with the promoter for the construction of the Essendon Tramway system during 1904. Only the top page has been imaged. .1 - 21 page (top page loose), "The Town of Essendon and The Borough of Flemington and Kensington with A. E. Morgans Esq Agreement" dated 26/9/1904, sets out routes, gauge, motive power, maximum speed, safety, tolls and charges, use, power house, default and various responsibilities. Last page has signature details. .2 - 8 pages bound with a clip, marked "A", dated 26/9/1904, Agreement of Delegation of Morgan's rights to the North Melbourne Electric Tramways and Lighting Co. Ltd. .3 - 15 page bound with a clip, marked "B" dated 26/9/1906, (1904?) agreement of Delegation of Morgan's rights for the transfer of order under Electric Light and Power Act 1896. This postcard was produced as a black and white card titled, "Early 1900 - Bush Hut , Gippsland", in the early 20th century. The original card had a blank white rectangular strip on the right side of the photograph. This was for the message. There is little information with this item except for a note indicating that it was a hut at Newmerella. This is a pictorial record of a bark hut of the kind built by the early settlers of East Gippsland. Few early settlers could afford the time, or possessed the capital, to build any dwelling more impressive than a slab hut: Postcards form a vital part of social and historical records for researchers. Reverend John Gray Sterling was a Presbyterian minister who was born in Belfast Northern Ireland in 1858 and was ordained in Rockhampton in 1881. Set of 7 images of the last built (1925) cable tram car house or depot in Howard St North Melbourne. This building replaced the Flemington Road car house when the cable tram track in Flemington Road was electrified during July 1925. The building is on the Heritage Register - see reference. When closed in 1935, it was subsequently sold to a furniture company. In 2017 it was occupied by City Prestige Automobiles.
