Fred Moore was a long time holiday maker with a house in Robertson St, whose children continue to visit. This event is played on the long weekend in January and is very popular as non handicapped players can play. Draw for partners, no handicaps required, and it is a 12 hole event. It is the only time the practice tee is used in an official event, it is used as the first tee and the first becomes the 10th. Form used to record a summary of the working hours of crews, showing the total hours and the hours worked when one man operation. Gives a list of names at the time when the form prepared. Also used by Ray Hall as a sheet of paper to write out the details of No. 9 run for Sundays as a reference document.Duplicated typed form, foolscap sheet, titled "Summary of daily time sheets - Traffic Department", giving name, total time, one man rate time, and spread of hours. Has a list of employee names in two columns. 3462.1 - Dated 9-5-1971 - has written out on rear of sheet, details of Sunday No. 5 run and details of shift for following week. 3462.2 - Dated 26/6/1971 - Sunday - On rear of sheets, Ray Hall - has used the sheet to write out Saturday 15 run details. From TROVE: Chronicle (Adelaide, SA : 1895 - 1954), Thursday 1 April 1948, page 8 Legacy Conference In Adelaide Addressing delegates from all States at a convention of Intermediate Legacy Clubs last week, His Excellency the Governor (Sir Willoughby Norrie), who was accompanied by Lady Norrie, said that Adelaide regarded it as a privilege to be chosen as the venue of the first of what might become a series of annual conferences on the general policy of Intermediate Legacy of Australia. His Excellency stressed that the objects of Intermediate Legacy were to foster the spirit of comradeship, self-sacrifice and service, and to establish a high standard of citizenship and a spirit of responsibility in national development. 'Anything to do with Legacy has the strongest support of Lady Norrie and myself,' continued the Governor. 'Membership of Intermediate Legacy is open to the children of deceased servicemen who have passed the age of 16. There is no upper limit, although in 1945 a Senior Intermediate Club was formed in Adelaide for men returned from the services, or who, ineligible for service, had attained the age of 25. 'A record of an intermediate Legacy Conference in 1948. The monument commemorates those from Avoca who have served in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. It was dedicated on18 November 1921. The memorial was later rededicated in 1988 to also remember those who served in the Second World War. During the First World War, 137 men from the Avoca area volunteered for the armed services and of this number 29 were killed. A plaque, unveiled in 1984, commemorates Sergeant Lewis McGee V.C who enlisted from Avoca in World War One. Colour photograph of the Avoca World War One. The Memorial is an octagonal building of rendered brick supported on eight columns with rounded engaged columns on the central section of each.
