Item 19. Cream silk scarf. Material sewn double. One end has an embroidered airman's wings in cream and light blue, In the centre of the wings is a red, white and blue bull's eye and over the bull's eye is a brown kangaroo. Below the bull's eye is a pale yellow boomerang shaped area with 'Fighter 81 Wing' embroidered in it. Underneath it all is embroidered 'Hofu - Japan 1946'. At the other end are some embroidered flowers and leaves. The leaves are pale grey and cream and the flowers are three shades of pink. One pink flower has a cream edge and one flower is cream. Item 15. Black Gentleman's Smoking Cap with stitched green leaves and blue flowers around the top and sides. The top of the crown has a pale blue crocheted dome 3.7cm wide and 18mm high. From under the dome is a plaited crochet thread which ends in a long tassel. Photocopies of five newspaper cuttings from 11/5/1988 to 20/6/1990 mentioning the German Society by Bendigo Advertiser writer Maurie McDonald. Mentioned are German Society plans memorial to its pioneers, German contribution to Bendigo, German dinner an outstanding success, German settlers established vineyards in the district and German Society plans to remember its pioneers. Gold framed item: silver brooch. Written in photo : Emblem of the Liedertafel. Of silver, these badges were proudly worn by members of Bendigo's Liedertafel from the 1960s. Consisting of all male voices, these choristers gathered, mainly at the Capitol theatre in View Street, to sing the Lieder ( German song ) The choir became very popular and were in great demand for functions, concerts and all types of musical entertainment. Both items are from the estate of Miss Marie Boldt of Bendigo and were presented to the Society by estate executor, J. Jess in March 1993.
