Leaflet titled A Voice from the Golden City - Bendigo Artists, Architects and Visionaries. An exhibition held at the Bendigo Art Gallery until 4 July 1999. 2 blue printed pages outlining regulations of the VICTORIAN Institute of Architects plus 4 handwritten pages of specifications of stairs = turret as proposed to be erected in addition to Fortuna Villa Sandhurst, the residence of G. Lansell. Black & White Photograph Alexandra Fountain, Bendigo Souvenir Tourism Set Rose Collection Series c1929. Alexandra Fountain is regarded as one of Bendigo, Victoria, Australia's most prominent landmarks and monuments. The fountain is located in Bendigo's "Charing Cross", the intersection of View Street and Pall Mall. Haring Cross effectively stands at the centre of the city and is one of Bendigo's busiest and most prominent intersections. The fountain stands opposite to the main entrance of Rosalind Park. Newspaper - LONG GULLY HISTORY GROUP COLLECTION: LANSELL ERECTS AUSTRALIA'S TALLEST POPPET HEAD
Photocopy of a newspaper article titled Discover Bendigo by James Lerk. Article is titled Lansell Erects Australia's Tallest Poppet Head.George Fauckner was responsible for erecting the tall poppet head at the 222 mine. Eight huge logs were used to make the four legs which morticed together. Blacksmiths made and riveted steel bands around the joints to secure them. Harkness Foundry manufactured the winding plant which was the largest in Bendigo at that time. Handwritten notes from a Bendigo Advertiser report 7 Jan 1907. Three shifts of men working all Saturday and Sunday had not located the main. A large are of Eaglehawk and the City are without water. Had to timber a hole to a depth of 25 ft. Victoria Quartz, Windmill Hill, Needle, Confidence Ext'd, Princess Dagmar, Golden Age, Golden Pyke, Macduff, constellation, Gt Northern, (partly), Specimen Hill, Clarence, New Argus, Comet, Gt Central Victoria and Victoria Consols had to close because they had no water and five to six hundred men believed to be out of work. City Council will put water-carts on and supply residents free of charge.
