Contract of sale between Rosina Jones, the vendor and William Vivian, the purchaser, of a saddlery business previously carried out by Mr. J. N. Jones, deceased. Handwritten in black ink on a sheet of ledger paper. Cost of business £41.1.1. Signed by vendor and purchaser, witnessed by Euphemia E. Stevenson, 1d stamp, Victorian stamp duty, dated 17.5.1912

The ledger is covered with brown leather with decorative edges. There are alphabetical tabs at the front of the book with lists of names. Individual customers are allocated a double page entry. Pages are ruled and numbered. The book is in very poor condition having obvious signs of water and insect damage. The writing in the first quarter of the book is barely legible, remaining pages can be read. 'A communication from Mr. A.T. Balaam asking that the Central Board of Health be communicated with on the subject of arsenical fumes from the furnaces of the Bendigo Tailings Company at Quarry Hill, where pyrites are to be treated, was also referred to the Mayor.' 'Tenders are invited by the Bendigo Tailings Company for the purchase of two complete cyanide plants, first class assay plants, stores and equipment.
