Photo of SEC Ballarat 26, with No. 14 and possibly No. 42 (Briquette roof advertisement and features on the same special trams in Reg. item 2064) waiting in Lydiard St. North for the arrival of the ARHS special on Saturday 21/8/1971 to undertake the last tour of Ballarat Tramways, prior to the closure of the system. The first line closure (Victoria St.) took place the following day. Has Reid's Coffee Palace building in the background and other buildings on the east and west side of Lydiard St. North. The Ballarat Orphanage building is on the right hand side of the tram. Shows the trees in Victoria St. and how the cars from Melbourne approached the tram stop. Date of photo on folder - 23/7/1961. Features Miss Winifred Gurr of the Queenscliff office, as the Good Fairy, Electricity at the Geelong Centenary Celebrations. Has the SEC logo or motif on the top of the cover. 2971.2 - Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 3, No. 3, Nov. 1938 titled "The Development of Ballarat's Electricity Supply". One A3 sheet and one A4 sheet. The article details the SEC's part in the celebration of Geelong's Centenary Celebrations in October 1938. Opened by Mayor, Alderman C. N. Brown. Details the lighting needs for the celebrations, 400kW, the large motor traffic who came to see them, damage due to Gales, public buildings illuminated and the procession. Includes details of the decorated trams - 1500 paper floors and 400 lamps. Has photos of Moorabool St, a decorated Pengelly tram and Power Station. On page 4 is a letter from an American visitor, Dorothy Bradner congratulating the tramways. Record revised 3/4/2019 to add digital images with those from Andrew Cook CD. Demonstrates pictorial souvenir strips of photographs of Ballarat, both colour and black and white and yields information about Ballarat c 1940.Set of 10 small colour and 5 large black and white views of Ballarat printed on a folded strip, glued within a light brown colour light weight cardboard folder, titled "Pictorial Souvenir of Ballarat - Views in Colour". Booklet printed with an address area with title in red and kookaburras. Produced by Murray View, Gympie Queensland. Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 3, No. 2, Aug 1938 titled "The Development of Ballarat's Electricity Supply". Two A3 sheets. The item with six photographs details the history of the development of Ballarat's Power Supply. Details development of the initial power supply in Dana St, the take over by ESCo, DC power initially, expansion, introduction of AC in 1925 to Ballarat, the takeover by the SEC in 1934, changeover from DC to AC, expansion to outlying areas, Buninyong, Creswick etc. Gives description of installed plan, boilers, storerooms and the stores systems. Has photos of the Dana St. building, Ballarat A power station, Ljungstrom Turbo Alternator and three of the stores area. Record revised 3/4/2019 to add digital images with those from Andrew Cook CD. The SEC made this agreement with respect to the operation of tramways in Ballarat and Sebastopol in 1929, though the SEC did not formally take over operation until 1934. See item 7604 for a signed copy of the original agreement. This copy is a retyped version for reference.Yields information about the 1929 agreement between the SEC, The City of Ballaarat and the Borough of Sebastopol about the operation of tramways in Ballarat.Carbon copy of SEC made 26/10/1960 of the "Agreement between the SEC, City of Ballaarat and Borough of Sebastopol" re tramways at the time of the operation transfer of the tramways from ESCo to the SEC. Below the letter is an image of a roller with the name "Ballarat Electrical Tramways" written on it. .2 - Reproduction of a photograph of the roller pre 1936, working on tram track. The roller has the words "Ballarat Electric Tramways" painted on the side of it. Model - Model of Ballarat Tram No. 26
Model of Ballarat tram 26 in SEC green and cream colour scheme. The Modeller has detailed the seats in side the end saloons. Balsa wheels had broken off, repaired with 'O' gauge wheels along with other parts by the Museum's model builder. Tram has the destination of Victoria St.Demonstrates model tram building. Ski-Horizon is the official journal of the Federation of Victorian Ski Clubs which began publication in 1949. The were 26 original member clubs which included Albury Ski Club, Bogong Ski Club, Myrtleford Ski Club, Tallangatta and District Ski Club and Wangaratta Ski Club. Two pioneers of Falls Creek, Tom Mitchell, M.L.A., and Martin Romuld were Vice-Presidents of the Federation.This Journal is significant because it documents the early development of skiing in Victoria.The journal features stories and events chronicling developments in Victoria and internationally. Items related to the Falls Creek Area in this issue include:- The front cover featured an official portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who was visiting Victoria with H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh Page 13 - There were to be virtually no restrictions on access to Falls Creek for the summer. However visitors were asked to avoid using the road above Mt. Beauty between 7-8.30 a.m. and 4-5.30 p.m. Many clubs have been building at Falls Creek and there are many things to see, including the Kiewa hydroelectric scheme. At this stage, restrictions for winter use have not been revealed.
