Yields information about the North Sydney Cable tramway that operated from 1886 to 1900.Twelve page booklet, yellow paper covers, centre stapled, folded A4 sheets to give an A5 book, white inside pages, titled "the North Sydney Cable Tramway 1886 - 1900". Gives a short history of the cable tramway that operated from Milsons Point ferry terminus until replaced by electric tramcars, photographs, map, and a short note on preserved cable trams. Does not note the re-use of some of the trailers for construction of the Ballarat electric cars in 1905. Published by the Sydney Tramway Museum, 5/1986. On the top right hand corner of the front cover is a yellow prince label - $0.5 and on top right hand corner of page 3, a printed label "Graeme S. News items note the subsidising of tram replacement buses in Ballarat and Bendigo by the SEC and that it was apparently illegal in the view of the Solicitor General (page 19) and BTPS news on operations in Wendouree Parade. Produced by the North Sydney Boys High School Railway club, prior to the closure of the Bendigo system - little else written and published at the time about the history and details of the system. A very good booklet for the time - produced entirely by the wax cut stencil process. Has a strong association with the people who prepared the document. Lower significance as not directly associated with Ballarat.Twenty page booklet on the history, operation and tramcars of Bendigo, produced by the Nth Sydney Boys High School Railway Club in September 1971. Printed on a wax cut stencil process, with green covers, drawings, maps, track layout, fleet list, gives tentative closure dates, route descriptions, sketches, stapled on edge. Has passengers getting off on the "wrong side". All the passengers are well dressed, indicating attending a possible event. The tram has a roof advertisement for "The Argus" newspaper. Is the sign by the tram a "Safety Zone" sign? Provided by David Critchley - not to be reproduced without discussions with David. David's notes indicates c1926. Photograph - Black and white of ESCo tram 8 towing a former horse tram as a trailer. Tram 8 has been fitted with windscreens and is in a one-man operation configuration with the rear entry closed off. There are passengers in the tram but there do not appear to be any in the trailer. Given that the weather blinds of tram 8 are drawn or closed, it is likely a winter day, and possibly the trailer is being used as the bicycle transfer car between the depot and the city office. The photographer is not known. Interior one of the few given a paint finish by SEC, others are varnished. Single truck (4 wheel) straight sill combination tramcar with open ends, closed centre saloon, longitudinal seats. Centre section originally an 1892 Sydney cable car trailer ( No. 18 - North Sydney). Black and white photo of ESCo No. 12 outside Wendouree Parade depot, post the 1912 installation of Motorman's windscreens. Both blinds rolled up. Has a roof advertisement for "Carter & Werner Opticians" and a step ad for "Eureka Cos. BO Punch". Seat backs face passengers to sit on the outside of the tram., that is have yet to be relocated to face inwards only. See image 757.2 - which shows this. Three copies of the photo - both from a copy neg. Copy 1, circa 1980, Copy 2, by John Phillips, 1993, Copy 3 ex Ken Magor, sent by Wal Jack to Ken. The rear of this print has extensive details on rear. See item 9468 for a glass plate negative.Yields information about the appearance of one of the Museum's tramcars at the time of fitting windscreens and demonstrates the evolution of the ESCo's tramcars, and advertising.
