Dust cover has the title, author, drawing of Bourke St and details of the book and author on the returns. Written by John D Keating, published by the Melbourne University Press in 1970. Has index, acknowledgements, table of contents, list of illustrations and references Looks at the establishment, construction, operation and demise of the cable tram system in Melbourne. Provides location details of the engines houses, tramcars, ticketing, management, politics, the Northcote line and the workers. Has a hand written note written by the daughter of John Caddell, a cable Tammie.
