The booklet was produced for the unveiling of the Captain Cook Statue on 7 December 1914 at the St. Kilda Foreshore. It contains details of Cook's life, the statue and the donor, Andrew Stenhouse, as well as of its unveiling. The statue was unveiled by the Governor of Victoria, Sir Arthur Stanley, watched on by Commonwealth and State dignitaries and hundreds of St Kilda residents. The Intermediate Legacy Club was a Club comprised of ex-Junior Legacy Girls who had attended the Physical Culture Classes (the classes commenced in 1927). Miss Enez Domec-Carre was the teacher of the girls classes at Legacy. This article was based on the Eulogy given by Legatee Ted Larkin at her funeral on 21st April 1998. She was a former Miss Victoria and was known for her physical education skills and for introducing grace and culture to Melbourne. In 1932 she joined Melbourne Legacy and in 1934 became the chief instructor of girls' physical education until she retired aged 65. In the post World War II baby boom the Legacy evening classes were attended by about 400 girls. She helped organise Legacy Widows and Legatee wives to sew the costumes for performances. Among her proudest moments was a display by 1000 Junior Legatees at the MCG during the 1954 visit of Queen Elizabeth II. As well her work for Legacy she ran physical education, ballroom dancing and debutante preparation classes in Windsor, Elsternwick, Gardenvale and Geelong. She also held a position on the Board of Studies and as director of physical education in Catholic Schools. Recognition of her work included being awarded an MBE in 1971. And in 1997 she received Legacy's highest award, the title of Guest of Honour, for her years of service. See also Cat.No. 01300. Letter dated August 17th, 1921 from David Langlands Chair of the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee, Wangaratta Branch advising the work has been completed and the memorial tablets and stone in commemoration of those that gave their lives and those who served from the town and district have been erected within the Hall however a further 150 pounds was required to complete the payment and asking for aid in this matter. 17th Aus Army Service Corps was one of the Militia Units in Bendigo 1912-1918. it was part of 17 BDE whose HQ was in Bendigo.1. Army form F21. Part thereof. it is white paper with black ink. It shows items issued by camp QM to 17th A.A.S.C. Bendigo Camp, they being 4 jackets dungaree, 4 trousers dungaree. 2. Army Form F21 Complete. The 17th Brigade (Australia) was an Infantry Brigade first formed in 1917 during WW1, but did not see action. The Brigade was reformed during WW2 and served in Libya, Greece and New Guinea.
