Receipt, Receipt for Payment for a Block of Land near Linton, 1918
Note that the block of land which was traded was not the block in Sussex Street, Linton on which the Sandows had a shop and house, but a block just outside the town boundary, near the Geelong Road (Linton-Naringhil Road). See map of Parish of Argyle for clarification.Photocopy of original handwritten receipt, which was for payment in full for a block of land situated just outside of Linton - Section A, Crown Allotment 1, Parish of Argyle. This land was purchased by Rubina (Ruby) Sandow from George Bolte in 1918. Receipt is for fifteen pounds, it is made out to "Rubinia Norwood Sandow" and is signed by Alf J. Smith, "for Geo. Bolte". See 11011.16. On the reverse of the title photograph is the date 1950-1955 and a blue registration stamp with the words 'Pure creamery, Australia, Victoria regd'. .1 - Postcard - full colour with serrated edge - Nu-color-Vue - co produced with the TMSV - of the A. E. Twentyman cable set at his Northcote home. The rear is printed in brown ink - card number NCV 234, with place for stamp. gives detail of the tram, the photograph location, the TMSV logo and the Nucolorvue on the left hand side and that photo is courtesy of Wrappings Pty Ltd. .2 - similar photo but with Alf's second saloon tram in the view and details but with card number NCV 905 and photo credited to A. E. Twentyman. .3 - same photo as .1, but glued into a Nu-color-Vue produced greeting card with a cut out for the caption on the rear of the card - has the Wrappings Pty Ltd. photograph credit with raised gold printing. Photographs show the installation process and official unveiling of Cable Tram set No.1, the first cable tram set to operate in Melbourne from 1885. It marked the 90th anniversary since its appearance on the cable network. This set was preserved by Alf Twentyman for many decades.Yields information about the provenance of Melbourne's first cable tram Black and white prints with notes on the rear.On rear in ink or pencil: "Melbourne.
