The former "Green Mill" dance hall built in 1926 become the "Forty Club" in 1933 and evolved to being the "Trocadero Palais" by the late 1930's can be seen on the right of the photo. The road on the south side of the Yarra River, at the bottom of the photo, is Riverside Avenue.
