This quilt was made to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the founding of Donvale Christian College. Mrs Anne Suk was one of the few women who held a place on the Board of the School in its early years. She was a member of one of the founding families. This is one of very few items to survive from the early years of the school. It was specifically created to celebrate the 25th anniversary.Machine pieced pale blue Quilt with navy and olive green borders and navy binding. School logo and swag of flowers have been machine pieced and appliqued on the quilt. The quilt has then been hand quilted with navy thread.On the back there is a label with "J.H.E. Suk" machine stitched on it. The book details the first fifty years of Melbourne Legacy. The book was written by Mark Lyons. The foreword was written by Sir Roden Cutler V.C., K.C.M.G., K.C.V.O., C.B.E.. Governor of New South Wales. From the National Library of Australia's website: 'The first Legacy club was formed in Melbourne in 1923 by a group of young men who had served together in the Australian forces in World War I. They were all in business and sought to help other ex-soldiers in business. After two years, they changed their objectives, deciding henceforth Legacy would care for the widows and children of their war-time comrades. Legacy clubs were soon functioning in all states in Victoria. There are now 47 Legacy clubs within Australia and one in London. They have almost 7000 members and care for over 100,000 widows and children, on whom nearly $3 million is spent annually, all of it raised by public subscription. This study, commissioned by Legacy for its fiftieth anniversary, provides the first detailed history of this uniquely Australian organization. Legacy is firmly rooted in Australian society. The Siege of Tobruk Medal was originally available to Australian, New Zealand, British, Indian and Polish troops who saw action during the Siege of Tobruk, between April and December 1941. The medal was commissioned and issued by the Rats of Tobruk Association in 1977. The medal was available to 18 BDE, 24 BDE, 26 BDE, 2/1 PIONEER's and other miscellaneous units. Some RAAF, Free French Air Force and Canadian personnel attached to the Royal Navy were included.This is not an official medal. Kurt Muller was a Sergeant Cook. He had WW11 service in the German Navy, and after migrating post war joined 8/13 VMR. Sergeants Scott, Perkins and Boogarde were ARA members of the Cadre Staff. Cambrai Day is celebrated annually by Armoured Corps regiments of the British Commonwealth. It marks the anniversary of the Battle of Cambrai in November 1917 when a force of more than 400 British Mark IV Tanks broke the defences of the German Hindenburg Line, It was the first large-scale, effective use of tanks in warfare. Cambrai turned from a battle of great success to failure, but it heralded a new type of warfare and changed the nature of the battlefield forever.
