Daryl Lindsay was born and grew up in Creswick, one of the famous Lindsay family of artists. He had a love of horses and this was his favourite. He often did portraits of horses for famous owners.Daryl Lindsay became a noted international artist and the Director of the National Gallery of Victoria. He had a very considerable influence on Australian art, particularly from the 1940s to the 1970s.Oil painting on canvas by Daryl Lindsay of his favourite horse, "Pompey".Signed Daryl Lindsay on front.
