A class photo of a group of young legatees at a gymnastics class in Malvern. There are 43 boys, of various ages, in gymnastics gear. Legacy clubs ran classes for junior legatees for many years. It was part of providing for the children of their deceased comrades. The skills they learned were show cased in an annual demonstration usually at the Melbourne Town Hall. It appears to be photo taken professionally, as there are several photos of different classes (see 00862 - 00867) perhaps to record Legacy classes for promotion purposes. The event was about looking at land use on small farms and as a social get-together for the Group. Wooragee was also researching how small landholders could run some enterprises around the time of the trip. This set of 20 photographs were taken at a CO’s parade at the Army Survey Regiment, Bendigo in 1985. CO LTCOL Jorge Gruszka presented the Defence Force Service Medal to personnel in recognition of 15 years of efficient remunerated service, or the Clasp for 5 years of additional service. WO2 Russ Larsen’s Warrant was also presented at the parade. This is a set of 20 photographs of a CO’s parade and the presentation of the Defence Force Service Medal, at the Army Survey Regiment, Bendigo in April 1985.
