Possibly used as plough winkers on farms in the 19th and 20th century.A pair of vintage leather horse winkers with metal rings and side leather buckles to strap it around the horse's head and eyes. The pole and neck straps are adjustable and can be lengthened and tightened without altering the blinds. The front strap goes around the horse's muzzle. They were possibly Plough Winkers. The horse collar would have been used on draught horses to pull a wagon or plough on farms.A large vintage leather horse collar with leather straps and buckles at the bottom. It is padded possibly with straw and lined with felt, fur or animal hair. It was part of the horse harness used to distribute the load around the horse's neck and shoulders when pulling a plough or wagon. Made from light card, there is a picture of the Henty plough in the top right hand corner of ephemera. Main picture below has two men, one holding the plough being pulled by cows, and the other holding a shepherds crook.Hand written copied message in black writing 'Souvenir of the old Henty Plow. This Old Plow was brought out from Scotland by Edward Henty and turned the first sod of Victorian soil at Portland in the year 1834. With the Compliments of HUDSONS STORES PTY.
